RDz gets ICH408I message printed in the syslog on CARMA connect attempt try to write /u/sys/RSED/.profile

ICH408I message printed in the syslog everytime a user connect to CARMA. It seems it and request was denied due to insufficient authority.

Administrators may notice that every time we connect thru CARMA, there are messages similar to these in the syslog:
ICH408I USER(USER123) GROUP(#GRP1 ) NAME(U. SERNAME ) 564
/u/sys/RSED/.profile
CL(DIRACC ) FID(D6D4E5F0F0F307540000000000010001)
INSUFFICIENT AUTHORITY TO OPEN
ACCESS INTENT(-W-) ACCESS ALLOWED(OTHER R-X)
EFFECTIVE UID(0033016217) EFFECTIVE GID(0000004001)

Apparently there is some type of attempt to write out to this .profile file. CARMA itself seems to function just fine. There are no other external symptoms due to these messages.

Administrators feel it is not right right that this error should be happening.

The root cause appears to be the CARMA miner is active as a thread in the RSE server process. It spawns a new process to start CARMA server. UNIX protocol dictates that this new process will be running with the userid assigned to CARMA miner thread and that it will inherit the environment variables of the process, which is RSE server.

So the new process inherits $HOME, which was set when RSE server was created, and thus has the information that belongs to RSE server.
