RDz should facilitate easier export/import specific test data from DB2 databases.

Rational Developer for System z should facilitate to export specific
test data from source (dev/test) databases and import this data into
target (test/dev) databases.

Currently the database Export/Import functionality is aimed at saving
and restoring simple data from local spreadsheet/comma separated
(*.csv) data.

The customer wants to use EXPORT and IMPORT options because they have a
database pointing to an development environment. The customer wants to
move to another database to a test environment, in tables and with
specific data. The customer does not need tools to save and restore
database.

The customer needs the features mentioned before (EXPORT and IMPORT) to
work with some records and acclimate for testing purposes.

The way to accomplish this is in a nutshell:

Export Data in data perspective Right click on the table and select
Data >> ?Return All Rows?
In the result window right click and select Export >> ?Current
Result??
Format: Text Plan
Output encoding: UTF-8
Export Options: User Defined
Delimiter: ;

Manually remove unwanted table records

Right click on the table icon and select Data >> Load
Import - Data Load - File Format
Column Delimiter: Semicolon
Character string delimiter: ;
Replace Flag Lit"

AND

Export Data
Format: Text Plan
Output encoding: UTF-8
Export Options: Tab Delimited
Delimiter: <tab>

Manually remove unwanted table records

Import - Data Load - File Format
Column Delimiter: Tab
Character string delimiter: None
Replace Flag Lit

RDz is dependent on data studio to provide this functionality. We have opened this request on their queue (RIMS # R2PRO00008713) and is being evaluated for delivery in a future release. We will continue to monitor the request there and once it is provided within data studio, it will be delivered through a RDz release. Thanks.
