CCSID / Codepage 1377 EBCDIC with HKSCS-2008 support should be added to RDz Client V8 & V9

Currently, the RDz V8 & V9 Client only support Host Code page IBM-937 for Traditional Chinese. However, IBM-937 does not support HKSCS (Hong Kong Supplementary Character Set) standard. RDz Client should be enhanced to support Host Code Page IBM-1377 (superset of IBM-937) which supports HKSCS-2008 standard. All Hong Kong & Macau z/OS customers need to use Host Code page IBM-1377 on z/OS and the related z/OS development tools so that it can support EBCDIC with HKSCS-2008 standard for Application Modernization Initiatives.

The support should include two levels:
1) z/OS File System Mapping for Host Code Page 1377
2) Host Connection Emulator for Host Code Page 1377
(Remarks: FITS# MR0518122851 for Host Code page 1377 support for IBM Personal Communications)

Please refer to APAR OA43021 which describes z/OS CCSID 1377 (and CCSID 1375) for HKSCS-2008 support with surrogate (SIP) mappings.

Thank you for taking the time to submit an enhancement for IBM Developer for z/OS. Customer input is invaluable to our products and many new functions and enhancements result from feedback. All input is very important to us to improve and server our customers.

We realize this Request for Enhancement has been in our backlog for quite some time and it is currently still not in our roadmap for the next two years. Instead of keeping it indefinitely in our backlog we have decided to respond with a decline.

Understand that RDz also uses ICU for code page conversion.
Please note that the ICU has finished the code page (or CCSID) 1377 for HKSCS-2008 EBCDIC support.

    Please see the following URL:
    http://bugs.icu-project.org/trac/ticket/10709
    http://bugs.icu-project.org/trac/review/10709

Could you please add the Host Code Page 1377 support to RDz Server and RDz Client ASAP?

    Thank you very much.
    Best Regards,
    Kelvin
