Need easy way to enter some data in hex on expression of breakpoints

When entering data in the EXPRESSION field on the optional parameters panel for a BREAKPOINT I don't have an easy way of entering just one byte of a 20 byte value that is a non displayable hex value. Say I want the expression to be: CARD="ALL CHAR DISAPLY VALUES BUT ONE " The last position is a non display character that is Hex '08'. On the host you would just turn hex on for the display values and be able to type in the x'08' for the one position. Would I have to type in the whole string as hex format to get this to work? Ie

CARD =x'C1D3D340C3C8C1D940C4C9E2...08'

The current version does not handle the hex notation.

That would be hard to do and if the string was long very painful. On the host you have to allow for hex values inside a string for expressions.

    What is the reason this was rejected? I see This requirement is being tracked by the Debug Tool product in the FITS database. Reference number MR0216092336.
    ( 20 Feb 2009, 11:13 AM Eastern Time (ET) ) . Was it rejected because it was moved to the Debug tool database?

    Hi,

    After some discussion among our development team, we believe this is a feature that needs to be implemented by Debug Tool.

    To make sure we understand your requirement, you're looking for a way to specify an Expression that would allow you to monitor a specific position of a variable in HEX when you select Add Breakpoint > Statement .. > Expression.

    Something like CARD(19:20) = X'08'

    Is that correct?

    Yes, we are using the latest Enterprise COBOL and PL/I. We also have IBM Debug Tool 8.1.

    What version is the COBOL compiler? Is it for Enterprise COBOL?
