Equal amount of IF / END-IF statements

Would be nice to have in Cobol editor syntax check or in software analysis a feature which calculates IF and END-IF statements. A warning or even error in case of not equal amount of those.

Thank you for taking the time to suggest an enhancement to our product. Many of our product enhancements result from feedback from our customers, so your input is always very important to us. At this time we have no plans to address this request within the next two years, please feel free to resubmit in the next year or so for our consideration. Again, thank you for your suggestion and continued support.

A preliminary evaluation of this request indicates that it is consistent with our business strategy. Further evaluation of this RFE is underway.

Would you want a period (.) treated as an END-IF? Another nice feature of this would be to color code matching pairs with different colors so nested conditionals would be obvious.

In PL/I you could also have a DO/END count and other types of logic validation.
