When using the COBOL, PL/I and JCL editors if you select a line that contains Hex 00 (Low-Values in EBCDIC) and Copy it to the Clipboard and then Paste it the Hex 00 gets transformed into a Hex 20 (Space). The reason for this was because users wanted to be able to copy content from within our editors and paste it outside of IDz, for example to notepad. Otherwise, the Windows Clipboard treats Hex 00 as a null end of sting termination and was therefore terminating the Paste at the location of the Hex 00.
If you want to duplicate a line within the COBOL, PL/I or JCL editors and preserve the Hex 00 then you can use Ctrl+Alt+Up to duplicate a line.
The RFE asks for a Copy binary characters and a Paste binary characters feature. This feature would require the use of Rich Edit Clipboard Operations and even then copying and pasting would likely only be available between the COBOL, PL/I and JCL editors. Copying binary characters from within the COBOL editor and pasting them to an external is unlikely to work.
It is doubtful that we would be able to deliver this RFE within the next two years.
