Host Emulator Macro Availability

Macros are an invaluable feature that allows users to automate repetitive tasks by recording keystrokes and commands. Having this feature will greatly improve productivity and user experience. Below are some specific use cases where I see it being used.

Login/Logoff: Introduce the ability to record login and logoff actions, allowing users to select these macros in advance. By associating these macros with triggers or keyboard shortcuts, users can automate the login or logoff process, saving time and effort.

Application Screens/ISPF screens : Extend macro recording capabilities to application screens and regular ISPF menus displayed via HCE. This enhancement will be particularly useful for tasks such as test case entry, enabling users to automate the input of standard entries or commands across multiple screens.

Screen Scraping: Integrate screen scraping functionality into macros to extract specific data from designated parts of the screen. For instance, when logging in, if the first screen displays the current IP address, which frequently changes, users should have the ability to scrape that IP address and incorporate it into their macros. This feature will greatly enhance the flexibility and adaptability of macros.

User Input Prompt: Incorporate a feature that allows users to prompt for input within macros. This functionality enables users to interact with the macro, providing necessary information or customization. This capability is especially valuable when macros require dynamic data inputs.

Basic Decision making abilities: Provide capability where I can do simple IF-ELSE logic checks to change the execution path of the recorded strokes. This will provide a lot of flexibility.

Together, I think these would be very powerful and help with significantly streamlining workflows and improving overall user experience.
