Provide a way for Developer to input a 'hex' key in a search string.

we have unique client identifiers which are 4 byte character representations of a 8 digit hex value.

Eg.

key_field_name : X'BE336244'

This is the key in a wide number of tables and databases here, so is used quite commonly in queries.

Issue

When I am trying to execute a query which has this field in it either from embedded SQL in program source or a query from a SQL file that has a host variable defined in the WHERE clause, I am prompted to input a value for the host variable (in the above case that is key_field_name) but I can’t input the necessary hex characters, only display characters.
