Case Title

Member Versions Deleted When Copying from PDSE to PDSEv2 in IDz

IBM Support Commented

Hello Naren

Thanks for opening this case.

I have checked the behavior you described, and can reproduce it consistently on both IDz 16 and 17.

I checked with the developers, who confirmed this is the expected behavior, when a dataset member is pasted into a dataset which contain a member with the same name, it is not considered as a new generation, but as a replacement. New generations only happen when the member itself is modified and saved.

If you would like this behavior to change, then this would be considered an enhancement request / idea, at the below URL :

https://ibm-z-software-portal.ideas.ibm.com/ideas/?project=IDZ

The ideas are directly reviewed and commented by the IBM Product developer and managers and would not require technical support involvement.

Please let me know if you have additional questions about this, or if I should otherwise close this case.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.
