Need to add some features to the Host Emulation part of RD/z

I would like to see some features added to the Host Emulation feature of RD/z. It should enable installations to eliminate the use of separate emulators (and the cost of those emulators).

Thank you for taking the time to suggest an enhancement to our product. Many of our product enhancements result from feedback from our customers, so your input is always very important to us; this request for enhancement is not currently aligned with our product strategy and vision and we will not be implementing it. Again, thank you for your suggestion and continued support.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Programming Languages
Product - Developer for System z

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - Developer for System z

This requirement was accepted 2009 but I cannot see any of the features yet in 2014.

    * Free definition of keys was only partly introduced... I can now set the CTRL key to but the Enter key cannot be changed to

    * still no free screen size definition possible. 60x160 was added, but e.g. 50x133 (which is very common) still missing

Sorry about the delay in answering. I wasn't aware that I had to check the box to be notified (isn't opt-in/opt-out a pain?).

    Some things spring to mind:
    1. Easy configuration of keyboards. For example:
Keyboard configuration, most software developers want to use the "real" enter key and not the Ctrl key as an enter.

    2. User configurable "hotkeys" for often repeated commands. Right now in the QWS3270 emulator that we use, I have the likes of "CEMT I PROG(xxxxxxxx) as one hotkey for doing NEWCOPY commands in CICS or TSO LOGOFF for exiting the session.

    3. The ability to order and configure the PF keys or maybe make them quite a bit smaller so that more fit on a logical screen?). For example, I have yet to see a way of either removing or changing the location of PF13-24. However, RESET is always on the "Next" panel of keys. I would like to "push" PF13-24 "to the right" and push RESET to the left to avoid continually having to "Next" to get to the RESET key.

    4. Session timeout avoidance command (with a configurable time value). Again see QWS3270 emulator for an example.

    5. Scripting language. Again see QWS3270. It uses % commands to store your password in memory and allows me to logon (having provided my username and password initially) to other systems or CICS regions without having to retype those each time).

    6. Print, copy, paste buttons (yes, I know I can use the Ctrl/C etc).

I can be contacted at 304-625-5870 if you wish to discuss further.

    Regards,

    Kevin

Can you explain what features you require from the emulator which you would need during the use of RDz? Please try to provide as much detail as you can, this will help us in our evaluation of this requirement.
