Allow editing of Mainframe files within RDz without doing EBCDIC to ASCII conversion and using a third party editior

RDz does an EBCDIC to ASCII conversion of data when trying to view a file. Some data on the mainframe is in ASCII format and the conversion makes the data unreadable within RDz. There needs to be a option to not do the data conversion on files. This could also be true of any file that has fields defined in COBOL as binary numeric fields. This data would be changed during the conversion. Once we have access to the data we would like to be able to select an outside editor to use if we choose to. None of the editors within RDz allow for the HEX support that we need to do the file editing we want. We have a tool called Ultra-Edit that does this well. It would be our choice to be able to select the editor we want to use.

MikeU, have you tried right-clicking the file in Remote Systems view and using Properties > Mapping to set the code page? If the remote file is UTF-8, for instance, set the remote and local codepage to UTF-8. Then no conversion will be done.
