This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - Programming Languages
Product - Developer for System z
For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - Developer for System z
Feature has been delivered in RDz 9.0 as a duplicate of the following request http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=27154
RFE has been reopened following PMR# 66658,004,000 with the same requirement.
In this case, LREC of 1 byte is needed to copy files from Local to MVS on Remote System Explorer.
Copy/paste with pre-allocation is not suitable because file is in binary format.
The requested information was not provided and the RFE is being closed.
This issue does not apply to copying dataset members since their file attributes are determined by the containing dataset. For sequential files, you can allocate a sequential file with the desired attributes, then open the file and paste the contents of the local file into the newly created sequential file. You can also do "allocate like" to reuse the attributes of an existing file.
We have the same problem creating sequential files
Need clarification - Are you creating sequential files or a new PDS ?
