Add support for dynamic arrays in the Catalog and IMS Explorer-created Database Views

REQUIREMENT: When performing some preliminary testing for accessing IMS data through the Catalog, we ran into an error for one of our segments that stated dynamic arrays were not supported when creating the PCB object. This is a potential showstopper for us, as we use dynamic arrays in our IMS copybooks, and we have processes that will need that segment's information. If the code can't even get the database structures, that means none of our processes can use the offending segment.

Since we are also testing performance in non-Catalog regions, we are also running into issues with how these arrays are created in Database Views. When importing a PSB into an IMS project in IMS Explorer, the database view shows the dynamic array's group-level element as a 0-length field that's unusable at run-time. We need a way for the array to be accessible and be able to interpret how many iterations of the array are present.

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS's lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.

When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

At this time, after further review this request for enhancement, we have decided to reject it. The reason we are rejecting RFE ID 137042 is because given our current priorities we cannot in good faith get to this within 18 months from the date that it is being opened. We value the required requirement and we will keep consider if priority changed. You are also welcome to resubmit this RFE at a later date and we will reconsider.

If you have any further question, please contact us.

Thank you for your continued support with IMS.
