Stop all IMS ODBM PST related work if the associated IMS Connect DRDA JDBC Socket goes away

There are several situations, when the IMS Connect DRDA socket goes away, but the ODBM thread/PST continues its work or hangs. Examples are, PST in Lock Wait in PI systems. DL/I call resulting in a database scan or other long running work, that wastes CPU and memory to get a result, where the caller is not waiting for the result anymore. Furthermore PSTs keep on executing if IMS Connect terminates a DRDA socket due to socket timeout settings or if the client terminates the socket because of whatever reasons.
The expectation is basically, if the DRDA socket is closed/broken. Cancel the associated ODBM PST by using some sort of /STO REG xxx ABDUMP.

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS's lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.

When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

After further investigation, we have decided to close it from an enhancement perspective. The reason we are rejecting RFE ID 118482 is because some of the related issues has been addressed through the service process (APARs) recently. If described issue still exists, please open a PMR and our service team would address it.

Open Database is one of our key focus area and we continue to work with our customer very closely to ensure a successful adoption.

If there is any further question, feel free to contact us at any time.

    Thank you.

    Hi Volker Hartmann,

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS's lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.

When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

After reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, our decision is to add this item to our backlog. Items in our backlog are expected to be delivered within the next 18 months. We reserve the right to re-prioritize our backlog items as new requests come in. This helps ensure that we are constantly focused on providing the best value to all of our clients.

    Have a great day!
