Automatic detection of current RRDS by RDDS Extraction utility. (old MR092111406 )

Customer would like to create a copy of the old IMSGEN macro based on the latest information contained in his IMS sistem and stored into DRD RDDS Data set; these will be used in case of problems to recover the subsystem.
The IMS RDDS Extraction utility (DFSURDD0) is perfect for this but actually is not able to autonomously detect the RRDS data set containing the most current information regarding the IMS definition in the system. So that a customer need first to find out by himself the correct RRDS data set and specify it in the utility RDDSDSN DD statement. The only way out is to implement some automation, but also this is somehow tricky as there are no IMS commands that could be used to retrieve the needed information.
The utility should be able to find out by itself the RRDS with the most current information.

    Dear Roberto,

Thank you for submitting this IMS enhancement request.
After giving the request a comprehensive review, we have determined that we cannot include it as a candidate in an upcoming release because it is not consistent with the product direction. The IMS strategic direction for Dynamic Resource Definition (DRD) is the use of the IMS Resource Repository instead of the RDDS to save resource definitions.
As a consequence we have, unfortunately, rejected this request.

We appreciate your input to the IMS development team. We also hope that you will continue to submit ideas for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of IMS.

    Sincerely,
    Janna Mansker
