Setting DB2 Client Information from an IMS application

Provide an API for IMS applications to make it possible to provide client information to DB2. This requires modification to IMS ESAF and DB2 IMS Attachment API to actually pass client info. This would require a change to the IMS ESAF and DB2 Signon API, letting DFSLI000 accept a call with client information which is then transferred to DB2 like the RRSAF SET_CLIENT_ID. The API could be designed the same way as is done for RRSAF. An example of such a call could look like “CALL 'DFSLI000' USING SECLIDFN ACCT USER APPL WS CRTKN LONGNAME RETCODE REASCODE.” in Cobol.

    Hi Lennart Henang,

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS's lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.

When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

At this time, after reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, we have decided to reject it. The reason we are rejecting RFE 68954 is because given our current priorities we cannot in good faith get to this within 18 months. You are welcome to resubmit this RFE at a later date and we will reconsider.

    Thank you.
