Message metadata repository for IMS/TM

Actually there is neither a way to retrieve message metadata for typical IMS transactions in IMS TM Resource Adapter or IMS Enterprise Suite Connect API from an IMS controlled nor metadata source nor a way to retrieve such metadata from IMS Java applications (JMPs, message-driven JBPs). This results in implementing IMS message layouts in both distributed IMS Connect client applications and IMS Java applications. There is no way to ensure that both IMS Connect client and IMS application (respectively IMS application with synchronous callout functionality and application server) are working with the same message layout. This is one reason, why it is important to have a IMS controlled metadata source for IMS message metadata. Another reason is to get rid off IMS format libraries.

    Hi Robert Recknagel,

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS's lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.

When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

At this time, after reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, we have decided to reject it. The reason we are rejecting RFE ID 92245 is because given our current priorities, the solution suggested in the requirement is not viable for us in the next 18 months based on our analysis. However, we do acknowledge the pain points and would investigate if there is any other alternative or small enhancements that may help to address the needs in the future.

    Thank you.
