ST4507_WTWTTIME is not accurate because it is added by unit of 1024 microseconds.

ST4507_WTWTTIME is not accurate because it is added by unit of 1024 microseconds.
ST4507_WTWTTIME is 4 bytes field as "Accumulated wait time - all Wait for Write (WTWT) " and is copied from LCDSTWTX in DFSFDLB0.
LCDSTWTX is also 4 bytes field and DFSFDLB0 adds to this field after shift right 22 bits of WTWT time in STCK.
In current DASD, the most of all WADS I/O time is less than 1 ms. (less than 1024 microseconds).
So, there is very small chance to add WTWT time into LCDSTWTX.
I hope that IMS convert the LCDSTWTX field to a double word thus accumulating the wait write I/O time in microseconds. The ST4507_WTWTTIME would remain in milliseconds, but with a much-improved resolution.

    Hi,

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS’s lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.

When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

After reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, our decision is address this issue within APAR PH41489. We believe this is a more appropriate action for this item given the details provided.

    Have a great day!
