Add global option support for STA, STO and PST TRAN commands.

Enabling PLEXPARM for IMS transactions allows setting a global status for IMS AREAS, DBS and TRANS.

However for transactions the only way to set this is via the update transaction command.

IMS RACF OPERCMDS settings cannot be configured for to allow update tran start and update tran stop without also allowing update tran set, IMS is passed command verb followed by keyword and nothing further.

Adding a global option for start, stop and pstop transaction commands would provide this capability without allowing the modifying of transaction definitions. This would benefit application availability without compromising security.

I would ask this is please reconsidered. This lack of capability is preventing us from maintaining a highly and continuously environment with greater than five nines uptime. To prevent business impact we must stop IMS SPOC jobs from running when an IMS in the IMSPLEX is unavailable. This goes against the concept of a parallel sysplex and continuous and high availability. All we require is one keyword added to existing commands to replicate capabilities that already exist but cannot be utilised due to security restrictions. We can grant application teams START STOP and PSTOP commands but cannot grant them UPDATE. Without the below commands we cannot maintain a highly and continuously available environment.

    /PST TRAN xxxxx GLOBAL = UPDATE TRAN(name) START(Q) STOP(SCHD) SCOPE(ALL)

    /STA TRAN xxxxx GLOBAL = UPDATE TRAN(name) START(Q,SCHD) SCOPE(ALL)

    /STO TRAN xxxxx GLOBAL = UPDATE TRAN(name) STOP(Q,SCHD) SCOPE(ALL)

This is not something we require but could be added for consistency

    /PUR TRAN xxxxx GLOBAL = UPDATE TRAN(name) START(SCHD) STOP(Q) SCOPE(ALL)

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product!

When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

At this time, after reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, we believe it aligns well with ideas we are already considering. Although we are placing this under 'future consideration', if we do deliver a solution, we do not expect it to be a standalone offering, but a piece of a larger whole that strengthens the security of our type 1 and type 2 commands.

In spite of this, we don’t feel we can deliver it within the next 18-24 months, which is the goal we have set for RFE deliverables as part of our IMS Gold program.

We appreciate your input to IMS, and we hope that you will continue to submit ideas for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of IMS.
