Supporting the OTMA protocol with the FES Exit

An important line of business of the Bank, Itau Home Banking (Internet Banking), will benefit greatly from this enhancement. Currently the Internet Banking uses SNA/3270 with the FES Exit to hold the terminal in SYSTEM (without holding IMS resources) while waiting for a response. More specifically, this would significantly improve their accounts systems:

User <tcp ip> IMS Connect <OTMA> IMS <LU6.1> CICS <> Accounts DB

This enhancement will bring immediate improvements to the Bank's legacy applications and better performance in the generation of the output and input messages (after some modifications in their applications).

In addition to bringing greater flexibility not only to the IMS Systems of the Bank, but to all IMS Customers, this enhancement meets the demands of the Bank's new application architecture for their electronic channels. The direction of the Bank's Systems and Architecture teams is to replace the SNA/3270 to use TCP/IP IMS Connect.

    Dear Mr. Wu :

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS's lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.

When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

At this time, after reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, we have decided to reject it. The reason we are rejecting RFE 68223 is that the priority of our road map has changed.

We appreciate your input to IMS, and we hope that you will continue to submit ideas for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of IMS.

    Sincerely,
    Daphne Isom - dsteele4@us.ibm.com

Hello, we have an idea to provide an alternate solution using IMS Connect and ICAL. Plan to discuss it with you in the week of Oct 23. Carlos will contact you to schedule the meeting. Thanks.
