This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS's lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.
When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.
At this time, after reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, we have decided to reject it. The reason we are rejecting RFE ID 100877 is because the existing IMSGROUP=parm may already address your requirement.
For example:
CTL Region 1 IMSID=IMS1, IMSGROUP=IMSB
CTL Region 2 IMSID=IMS2, IMSGROUP=IMSB
BMP Region 1 IMSID=IMSB
MPP Region 1 IMSID=IMSB
BMP region 1 connects to either IMS1 or 2 using z/OS names services to find the correct IMSID to use. The IMSID of the BMP JCL is used to construct the z/OS name. This example also holds true for the MPP region and any IFP regions. The one EXEC parameter, IMSGROUP= is added to the control region procedure.
The IMS Program Restart Facility may also help if more capability is needed.
If you have any further question, feel free to contact us at any time.
Thank you.

Hi Jonathan Eosze,
Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product.
We have a question for your requirement RFE ID 100877. We presume you are referencing a symbolic checkpoint taken by a BMP application and not an IMS system checkpoint. Is this correct?
Thank you.
