Allow IMS to get non-contiguous space in ECSA to avoid abend U0717.

The customer has encountered U0717 abeend . (PMR 83164,695,760)

Because of ECSA fragmentation it was failed to getmain for PSBW (set via CSAPSB= option) .

In the customer's r environment , 4 IMS Full Function Online subsystems recycled every day without z/OS reIPL

This situation may be lasting during three months or so, and therefore ECSA fragmentation is likely to occur.

The number of database for the customer's application is growing , so the ECSA consumption and fragmentation is sure to be got worse.

The E-pravate area consumption is also rising because of demand of FF VSAM buffer for new databases , so the workarond of ECSA size expansion is limited.

Before long the customer IMS applicaition can not keep up going .

Now the customer strongly requires the enhansement to remove the need of contiguous space in ECSA

(The customer is migrating IMS from V9 to V13 and the enhansement is good for V13 or above.)

    Hi 明宏 峰尾,

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS's lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.

When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

At this time, after reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, we have decided to reject it. The reason we are rejecting this RFE is due to higher priority items preventing us from delivering this within 18 months. You are welcome to resubmit this RFE at a later date and we will reconsider.

We appreciate your input to IMS, and we hope that you will continue to submit ideas for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of IMS.

    Thank you.

    Sincerely
    Swetha Sridharan

    Hi,

After reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, our decision is to add this item to our backlog. Items in our backlog are expected to be delivered within the next 18 months. We reserve the right to re-prioritize our backlog items as new requests come in. This helps ensure that we are constantly focused on providing the best value to all of our clients.

    Have a great day!
