provide EXPRTIME feature for fastpath like available in full function

fastpath message are not expiring in the queue, will stay until processed. In some problem situations the messages will fill up the queue (max trans reached) and prevent other messages from being added to the queue. At this point we were having all new IMS message failing even for transactions not effected by the original problem situation. The client that submitted the transaction in the queue had timed out and at this point there is no point in having the message remaining in the queue as we don't even want it to be processed. This feature was important enough to be in full function and it needs to be in fastpath as well. There is also resource impact on a transaction which we would not want to have processed anymore.

    It seems that the full function feature check at time it puts on the queue and then again once the message gets to the top of the queue. Once at the top if expired it does not get processed. We need something better than that, the message can not continue to sit on the queue until it gets to the top. Once the client timeout has been reached the message needs to expire and then get removed from the queue right away. We need to keep the queue from hitting its max and then preventing new messages from being put on the queue.

    Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS's lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.

    When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

    At this time, after reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, we have decided to reject it. The reason we are rejecting RFE 109777 is this item is not strategic to our roadmap - the goal we have set for ourselves is to deliver RFEs within 18-24 months of the submission. You are welcome to resubmit this RFE at a later date and we will reconsider.


    We appreciate your input to IMS, and we hope that you will continue to submit ideas for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of IMS.

    We are currently reviewing this item for consideration, and we plan to seek additional feedback from other IMS clients. When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and our ability to deliver within the next 18 months and prioritize those.
