Writing IMS type x'99' log records for CDC to an external/separate IMS Log dataset.

WE are currently running a single image of IMS, and have CDC streaming of DB updates enabled to and Enterprise Event Hub.

Due to the number of DB's enabled for streaming, the volume of log records written since enabling CDC has significantly increased.

Currently during peak online and batch processing our IMS logs switch every 3-4 minutes. 

IMS OLDS were already increased to its MAX capacity to cater for the additional log volumes. We have defined OLDS size of 900 000 tracks with striping enabled for 4 striped volumes.

To cater for additional log capacity the only option we have currently (other than enabling IMS PLEX and data sharing) is to add additional OLDS so that there is sufficient time before the OLDS are wrapped around with sufficient Available OLDS to switch to before the last full OLDS dataset is archived.

 

This idea/request we are logging is for x'99' log records to be written to a separate IMS OLDS datasets so it can be isolated and better managed. This should decrease the frequency of the OLDS switches during peak period, without impacting normal processing of IMS requests.
