Provide a Java 8 compiled JZOS jar via Maven central

Recently, a Java 11 compiled version of the JZOS jar has been added to maven central allowing build tools such as Maven and Gradle to add it as a dependency with less friction for projects and developers.

Since this jar has been compiled with Java 11, it cannot currently be used by Gradle projects using Java 8.

Adding a Java 8 compiled JZOS jar to maven central will allow such projects to regard JZOS as any other.

IBM Java 8 EOS is September 2026 as per: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/java-sdk-lifecycle-dates

Roded, apologies for the delay in this response. Due to other priorities, this alignment work has been postponed until further notice. Feel free to start or continue using the existing Maven JZOS as documented above. Thank you.

We released JZOS on Maven for Java 8.
Here is the IBM documentation (https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/sdk-java-technology/8?topic=components-managing-jzos-dependencies-by-using-maven) for Java 8 JZOS Maven.
Please note that we're looking to adjust and align artifact naming for JZOS on Maven, to provide a better UX for our users.
