This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

So far the Java layer and native layer code looks fine and no issues found during compilation after manually adding the javax.smartcardio package to codebase.
To understand the feasibility of runtime scenarios between these two layers and other dependent components we may need to come up with the test scenarios, get them tested to investigate further. Currently there is no test setup available for the same and it may require 1PM effort or more to get the same.
Once this evaluation is done, we shall be able to move on to evaluate the dependencies with other components and the feasibility to support this feature.
In order get those tests and set them in order, we require a minimum of 1PM effort and that would lead us to understand the feasibility of this support further. Given the current challenges and bandwidth we have , we will not be able to pursue this request at this point of time. We may revisit this in future as appropriate.
This RFE is in evaluation now, will keep this updated once the evaluation is done. thanks, syed
There is no Smartcard addressable by an Operating System. The only Smartcards are for the Trusted Key Entry (TKE) device. The Smartcard inside the Service Element (SE) device is only for Feature On Demand (FoD).
