This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

delivered as part of the 5.1 version
regarding my first comment "support named consts":
i've found another RFE that covers that and its stated that this is supported in EPLI 4.5.
I currently have no access to 4.5 to verify, but probably this is already fixed.
another addition (pls. let me know if you want me to open a separate RFE for that):
support named consts in sql
sample:
dcl 1 colors,
2 red bin fixed(31) value(1),
2 green bin fixed(31) value(2), ...
exec sql select car from table_cars where car_color = :colors.red;
sql preprocessor should be able to replace the host-var by a const.
just for the records (unsure if i've already noted it somewhere in the conversation): it would be great if the following is also supported:
define struct 1 hostvars,
2 foo char(2),
2 bar char(3);
exec sql select foo into :hostvar.foo;
Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - Programming Languages
Product - PL/I Compilers
For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - PL/I Compilers
this would be useful
