Add package declaration of entries to allow “non-unique” entry names in different PACKAGEs (including LIKE statement)

Given the simplified Use Case we face the problem that we need to code long entry names to make it unique:

1. We have a customer package with the name YCDSGET with a getBalance function to return the overall balance (sum as decimal float) of the given customer.
2. We have an account package with the name YKCKSTA with a getBalance function to return the balance (in decimal fixed) of the given account.

Let assume that YCDSGET is calling YKCKSTA to sum all accounts of a customer but that is not what we want to point on. We think about the code in any caller program, calling either one, the other or both of them.

So we would like to get a solution that we can use “non-unique” entry names in different PACKAGEs. In addition we would like to be able to set an alias name by using the LIKE statement to make the code more understandable.

This requirement has been re-assessed.  It is not likely that this will be implemented in the next 12-24 months and so it is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.
