FIND/SEEK

The ISPF FIND/SEEK functionality would be a very welcome addition to the PL/I compiler built-in function set, whether as a new built-in function, or as an enhancement to INDEX/INDEXR, specifically the ability to use picture strings.

    the continuous delivery in the first quarter of this year (2018) provided support for the REGEX built-in, and that provides a very generalize FIND/SEEK capability for char strings

    We prefer a new BIF.
    But what about a REGEX() BIF ?

    It may be slower than any other search/find but covers all possibilities ?..
