Request to use "explain plan for <query>" to validate SQL statement with Oracle

RBD Infocenter (http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/rbdhelp/v7r5m0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.egl.gg.doc/topics/gegl_core_sql_validatesqlstatements.html) says:

Validation occurs only if your JDBC driver supports validation of SQL prepare statements and (in some cases) only if you have configured the driver to do such validation; for information, see the documentation for your JDBC driver.

For DB2 it means using the parameter deferPrepare=false on the connection URL.
