Enhance EGL runtime error reporting with symbolic dump of the EGL call stack and visible EGL variables

When the EGL RunUnit ends because of an Exception, a short, uninformative and often incorrect error message is printed. For example:

EGL0150E An error occurred calling the yyyy program. Error: java.lang.NullPointerException
EGL0002I The error occurred in the xxxx program processing the main function.

The message above was printed when in reality, the xxxx program called the yyyy program, which called an embedded function, which called Java, which threw a NullPointerException.

We want to present useful diagnostic information to the developer similar to what is offered by commercial mainframe offerings like abendAid (from Compuware). In case of abnormal termination, a report should be printed with at least the following information:

? A Stack trace showing where the error was detected and which code path was followed to get to the error location (all calling programs / functions), preferably with eglfunction names rather than java method names
? Variables visible at the time of error, printed in a readable form

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Programming Languages
    Product - Business Developer

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
    Product - Business Developer

We agree that these would be a useful feature for problem diagnosis. However, it is not likely to be high enough in priorities list to be implemented in the next 2 years.

If you have a case where the current error information is actually incorrect, please open a PMR
