SunRI1.2 implementation jar is not picked up by WAS 8.5 Classpath Container

com.ibm.ws.jsf.RI1_2.jar is not picked up by WAS 8.5 Classpath Container automatically in RBD9. Workaround is to add this JAR in applications class path (within WEB-INF/lib) which i don't feel is correct.

We have evaluated this request and determined that it cannot be implemented at this time because the request is not clear for us and we did not receive feedback from the submitter after more than 3 months.

    Hi,
Thank you for submitting this request for enhancement; we are evaluating it.

From your description, you want to use the Sun reference implementation (Sun RI 1.2 ) as JSF implementation. Is that correct?

As I know, both Sun Reference implementation and Apache MyFaces implementation are shipped with WAS. WAS determines if the SUN RI or Apache MyFaces is used from the application server run time .That means , you can change the implementation after deploying your website to WAS. (Sun RI 1.2 is the default implementation , you don't need to change anything if you want to use SUN RI 1.2)
FYI: Login the WAS administrative console. Click Applications>Application Types > WebSphere enterprise applications > application_name > JSP and JSF options. You can change the JSF implementation here.

As you said , you need to copy com.ibm.ws.jsf.RI1_2.jar to application class path
Typically, web applications that use JSF API/Framework embed the JSF API and implementation jar within their web application war file. However , In WAS, this practice is not required.WAS has provided the JSF implementation jar as his runtime library and it is available to all web applications. If a JavaServer Faces implementation (e.g SUN RI 1.2) is bundled with your web application, it would be ignored as the JSF implementation provided by the platform always takes precedence.
