Availability of all Servlet APIs in J2EELib

J2EELib provides functions for only few APIs from HTTP Servlet specification classes (e.g. Request, Response, Session etc). As EGL uses JSF runtime in UI layer, often the JSF handler needs more APIs from HTTP servlet specification to fulfill some simple requirements. J2EELib creates a limitation on EGL handler compared to what a JSF managed bean (in Java) can easily do.

For instance, if JSF handler requires to redirect current request to another page, but if current JSF phase is not INVOKE_APPLICATION then it can not use "forward to <label>;" statement. It has to use "forward to <url>". If it wants to create target-url by extracting part of current request URL, then it has no inbuilt APIs (viz. J2EELib.getCurrentRequestURL()) to read the same.

This is a valid requirement. However it will not be implemented since the APIs mentioned can be accessed today using EGL external data types.

This RFE is consistent with our strategy and product roadmap and IBM is continuing to evaluate.
