This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

This feature was delivered in version 9.6.1.
We have evaluated this request and determined that it cannot be implemented at this time because it's very costly to implement and we have no business case to put in front of it.
A preliminary evaluation of this request indicates that it is consistent with our business strategy. Further evaluation of this RFE is underway.
I had a conversation with author of this RFE.
Currently, when comparing two design entities, there are two ways for the user to make changes in the comparison editor :
- Use the buttons to copy a change from left to right or right to left
- Switch to the "Text comparison" and directly modify the XML text
The request is to have a more simple way to make a change, by allowing the user to change values directly in the entity when show as a tree (Design comparison).
We do not request a full edition capacity, but at least being able to change a value of a field.
To start with, we need to be able to change the value "Line number" in macro-calls in programs.
The design entity should not be read only. I was able to change the compare type to xml and then edit it.
Looks like you try to merge to a read-only file which might explain why you can't realize operation. What you want to do is possible we think it's a usage problem.
Attachment (Use case): I was able to resolve one of the macros, but I can only overlay the existing one. The desired result would be for both macros to exist and one to have a new line number.
Attachment (Use case): The -cp compare only wants to overlay my changes. Copying all 'non-conflicting' changes will just reverse my code.
