This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Product family - Transaction Processing
Product - z/TPF
We have a couple of concerns with this. First, the sample situations described in the requirement are completely different (exit dumps versus not enough system resources), and they potentially would result in different technical solutions to resolve. Second, the proposed solution (to have an entry to decrement the number of ECBs) is dangerous, can lead to unpredictable situations, and seems more like a "hack" than a long term solution to a potential issue. Third, letting CRUISE proceed to completion is not necessarily recommended in these cases because the results of a run when all ECBs have not correctly completed (or when the ECB count will no longer match the actual number of ECBs) cannot be trusted. As mentioned in the requirement, proper tuning eliminates this issue in most cases, and we also wanted to point out that if CRUISE hangs, this could represent a defect in the z/TPFDF product. For example, PK92771 was issued to address a hang condition in CRUISE several years ago.
For all of these reasons and due to resources and priority, IBM does not intend to do this in the forseeable future.
