OSA VIPA swing

Currently, the TPF system only supports swinging of VIPA's when the OSA connection that was previously active fails. TPF does not support an automatic swing of VIPA's when OSA's fail during activation. From the TPF documentation....

VIPAs can swing between a pair of OSA-Express connections on the same processor. This process, known as swinging VIPAs, occurs automatically when the OSA-Express connection that does not own the VIPA is active and:
The OSA-Express connection that owns the VIPA fails.

Customer is requesting changes to include automatic swinging of VIPAs when trying to activate an OSA fails..

Based on priority and effort, IBM does not intend to implement this in the foreseeable future.

This would be a significant amount of work to incorporate since the OSA activation / VIPA swing area is complex. The TPF lab does not believe this is a significant issue since it generally occurs after an outage of some sort (that is, after an IPL). Given the complexity and the value it provides, IBM is declining this requirement.
