Save/Load Function for Toolkit Project Build List

TPFUG_Req_Number: V06004S
Contact Originator Id: barbara.malloy@eds.com
Abstract: A TPF Toolkit Project "Build List" is populated via a panel available in the project properties. An enhancement to save a build list and reload a saved build list would be useful.
Description: TPF Toolkit has a function to build groups of components in a project via the Project Build. The list of components to be included in a Project Build is populated via a panel in the Project properties. A Build List can contain all types of components including: assembler, c, c++, dlm, dll, llm, lset (load set). A developer might want to build one or more of these in various combinations during a project.

Rather than having to rebuild the Project Build List repeatedly for different combinations of components, it would be desirable if a function could be added to the Project Build List panel to save a list once it is built and load a previously saved list. This would save the developer from having to continually rebuild the Build List with different combinations at various times during the project.
Critical Success Factors: The ability to save/reload project build lists would be a time and money saver. It could also provide an audit trail to aid in finding the root cause of a TPF error.
Solution Considerations: The Project "Build List" panel is opened by doing a right mouse click on the TPF project name and selecting "Properties". Currently the "Build List" panel has buttons to "Add from Project", "Remove", "Move Up", "Move Down", "Reload from Project", "Reload from Filter" and "Change Build Action".

We would like two more buttons and support for them added: "Save Build List" and "Reload Saved Build List". Clicking on either button would open a dialog that would ask the user for the name that the Build List will be saved as or reloaded as and could ask for either a remote or local directory where the list is located and possibly a filter associated with the list.

The "Reload Saved Build List" dialog should also support a pull down menu listing the build lists that have already been saved.

It would be helpful if the function could validate that the items in a saved build list are still available in the project's filters.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - z Systems Software
    Product - z/TPF

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - z/TPF

This requirement can be satisfied with the existing maketpf build solution. A presentation was given at the March 2015 TPFUG conference demonstrating how this can be done. Here is a link to the presentation:
