TPF Toolkit Tool for building XML Concatenation Files

TPFUG_Req_Number: V06003S
Contact Originator Id: charles.hammond@eds.com
Abstract: A TPF Toolkit tool is needed to update the build and link library concatenation information in the Toolkit tpf_pref.xml file using the data from a centralized table that can be shared by multiple tools and functions. The use of a centralized table ensures the same concatenation information is used by all tools.
Description: The library concatenation used for assembling, compiling, building dlms, dlls, llms is maintained in a central table because it is used by multiple functions. Keeping the information in a single location that multiple tools can access ensures that all functions requiring the library information are kept in sync and get identical data.
Critical Success Factors: Maintaining this information in a centralized location that multiple tools can access will ensure all tools use the same information resulting in the greatest assurance of quality and accuracy.

AT the Spring 2006 TPFUG Conference the Development Tools Task Force added the requirement that IBM Collaborate with EDS (charles.hammond@eds.com )and other interested companies on developing the technical specifications for implementing the Table/File

Alternative Solutions: alternate contact douglas.corey@eds.com
API(s) could be provided in the tpftool.bat command line tool that can update the library concatenation information in the build and link options defined in the .xml file for the target environments.
Solution Considerations: A separate tool could be provide with TPF Toolkit to take a table of information containing the concatenation orders for a target environment and build or modify the xml file TPF Toolkit uses for the build and link options for Target environments.

An alternative would be to provide new API's as part of the tpftool.bat functions.
