Device Error LOG - Storage & Tape (as a start)

ADD on to Specific error detection, corrective action, a communication link for on-line error tracking. A tracking vehicle for (perhaps) "All attached Devices" but at first for Storage Devices. Overhaul existing processes and on-broad tracking in to TPF. Log Storage Errors on-line to reduce CRAS notifications while maintaining historical integrity to improve resolution, quicker problem identification and correction. Provide easy operator interface to set specific actions and tools to display, update, maintain the developed database. Display entries for obtaining historical & current device, control unit and / or channel information from common device database. Functional entries to identify modification or not, recovery options or not and ample space to maybe hold the device's complete history while allowing Operators to update comments as maybe needed.

Investigate existing tools and enhance monitors to search the compiled database to provide varying reports; daily, hourly or immediate reports established by the local operator - Tools to improve system monitoring, maintaining control and ensuring previous errors are avoided.

(Maybe include device performance information, reads, writes, errors, highs & Lows, etc.)

IBM does not intend to implement this request.
The console log provides a log / history of system activity, and suppressing messages and storing them in a database on TPF is against one of the main purposes of the console log. At the very least, TOS can be used today to automate responses to console messages and even highlight or alert based on specific messages. If you are looking for a more cognitive solution that analyzes the console logs and intelligently reacts to the messages, then other products are designed to do this. For example, IBM Operations Analytics for z Systems has been demoed to several customers as a way to apply cognitive analytics to system operations.
