z/TPF zREST as a Data Access Service

Headline: zREST as a Data Access Service to z/TPF Data
2. Lead Contact: mark.whitney@travelport.com
3. Date 2018-04-26
4. Description:
a. Multiple z/TPF Customers, Travelport, Amex, Delta, and Citi; desire an implementation of z/TPF REST Services that provides a Create, Read, Update, Delete (CRUD) into z/TPF Databases
b. The initial scope should be z/TPFDF Databases, leveraging the existing architecture of the MongoDB API/zDFDL/zTPFDF Service.
i. Custom File Structures would be desirable but the lack of consistency in access methods makes this more difficult
c. An initial release would need the JSON Document Structure to directly map to the associated z/TPFDF Data Structures but later releases would ideally allow for different layouts in the JSON Document versus the zTPFDF DB.
d. An initial feature release it is recognized that a full update of the z/TPFDF subfile might be necessary rather than updating only the affected subdocument/substructure that is associated to a LREC.

Travelport - withdraws support from Idea TPF-I-568.

Internally we will use the MongoDB API and applications that interface with z/TPFDF rather than allow REST Services ti interact directly with z/TPFDF
