TPFDF Support for Processor Unique Structures

TPFUG_Req_Number: DF08186S
ORIGIN DATE: March 25th, 2008
REQUIREMENT ABSTRACT : Improve TPF/DF functionality and utilities to include support for structures that are Processor and/or I-Stream unique.

REQUIREMENT DESCRIPTION:
• Provide the ability to support and manage TPF/DF structures that are Processor unique, I-Stream unique, or any combination of SSU, processor or I-stream uniqueness.
• ZUDFM commands should support the ability to link and subsequently work with a TPFDF structure regardless of its processor, SSU or I-stream affinity.
• CRUISE support should include the ability to define the structure to be processed by its processor/SSU and I-stream affinity. CRUISE should also support the ability to process in a single run all processor unique/SSU-unique/i-stream unique copies of a structure. CRUISE restore should be able to restore all, or selective processor/SSU/I-stream unique copies of a structure captured to tape.
• New optional parameters should be provided to allow applications to process TPFDF structures in a specific processor, I-stream or SSU. Just like an ordinal number, the processor/SSU/I-Stream affinity of the subfile processed should be fixed, once records are retrieved, until the SW00SR is closed. CLOSE REUSE should clear processor/SSU and I-Stream affinity information to allow another instance of the same structure from a different processor/SSU/I-Stream to be processed. The ability for an application to process records in processors/I-Streams/SSUs other than its own should be considered a RESTRICTed function (just like FACZC).

CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS

Provide the same functionality to support Processor, SSU and I-Stream unique record structures in the same manner as "standard" record structures in TPF/DF.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - z Systems Software
    Product - z/TPF

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - z/TPF
