REQUIREMENT ABSTRACT
Provide ability for TPFDF APIs to operate on heap storage copies of TPFDF files.
REQUIREMENT DESCRIPTION
TPFDF APIs should be enabled to operate on heap storage copies of files. The copies may be in EVM heap or in system heap to be shared by multiple ECBs. The copies of files maybe created similar to the Multiple LREC Buffer functions.
SOLUTION CONSIDERATIONS
1) To minimize changes to existing applications, the preference is to provide these functions using the existing TPFDF API.
2) It should be possible to create new files in heap without loading file copies.
3) ZUDFM online file display/update functions should support files in shared heap.
4) Debuggers and trace tools should support file in heap.
Options
-------
1) An initial release may be limited to readonly access
2) Updates to EVM heap copy may be filed with option to insert or replace on duplicate key
3) Other update restrictions may be considered to minimize LC synchronization issues such as restricting updates to shared heap copy from file only
