Enable Agents to Access Mainframe Systems as User Surrogates in watsonx Assistant for Z

To maintain robust auditing and compliance on mainframe systems, it is critical to track both the real user identity and the agent identity when actions are performed. Currently, there is no mechanism for agents to act on behalf of a user while preserving this dual accountability.
I propose implementing a surrogate access model, where agents can execute mainframe operations as a proxy for the user interacting with them. This approach ensures that audit logs capture:

  • The actual user ID initiating the workflow.
  • The agent ID performing the action.

This capability would provide full traceability for compliance, security, and operational governance in enterprise environments.
