Enable Multi-Tenancy Support with a Single Chat Interface in watsonx Assistant for Z

Customers with multiple corporate divisions, geographic regions, or environments typically operate separate IBM Z infrastructures (LPARs, sysplexes, networks, and data domains) under distinct accounts. Today, these scenarios require multiple watsonx Assistant for Z instances or fragmented user experiences.

This idea proposes enabling multi-tenancy support from a single chat interface, allowing specialists to initiate a conversation by explicitly selecting the Division / Account / Environment context. That selected context would then govern all subsequent agentic actions, integrations, data retrieval (including RAG sources), and execution scopes, while maintaining strict isolation between tenants.

The list or catalog of available divisions/accounts would be provided by an external system of record (e.g., IAM, CMDB, or custom service). watsonx Assistant for Z would require native integration support to consume this catalog and enforce the selected context as part of conversation initiation and agent execution.
