Native Z HMC to Observability Connect for IBM Z LinuxONE

Request enhancement to enable direct collection of IBM Z / LinuxONE Z HMC metrics into IBM Observability Connect, with automatic transformation into OpenTelemetry (OTEL) format, allowing integration with Splunk Observability, Dynatrace, and other OTEL-compatible platforms.

This enhancement removes the need for the IBM Z HMC Prometheus Exporter layer and aligning IBM Z observability strategy.

Current state

Today, collecting hardware metrics from IBM Z and LinuxONE Z HMC requires an indirect method using Prometheus as an intermediary:

Z HMC → Z HMC Exporter (API) → Prometheus → Thanos → Dynatrace/Splunk

Disadvantages:

Operational complexities (Virtual Machines)

No OTEL aligned
