Suppress or obfuscate queryString in SMF123 records

Currently SMF123 records expose query parameters in RESTFUL requests as queryStrings.

Enterprises using Z/OS Connect EE should have the option to suppress or obfuscate queryStrings in SMF123 records to both ensure that comply with GDPR / DP / PSD2 regulations and also to 'protect their technology operational staff' even if the query parameters used do not contain PID or sensitive data.

Monitoring tools utilising the SMF123 records also expose queryStrings to users of the monitors including infrastructure platform and application support individuals.

Whilst there is a recognition that query parameters
should not contain sensitive or PID data it has to also be recognised that that business data should not exposed be to users of the monitoring tools.

Even if query parameters are accessible within the infrastrructure layers this usually takes considerable additional effort.

The suggestion is that the way queryString's are reported in SMF123 records is configurable and there are 3 options which come to mind :

1. Default behaviour (and to retain parity with those Enterprises which are content with reporting on queryStrings ) : queryString's are reported.

2. QueryStrings are not reported at all (Reported as " *** Not Available / Unreported *** "

3. QueryStrings are hashed (and hashing method specified / required) , e.g. SHA-2

Whilst this requirement is valid, based on our current plans and priorities for IBM z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition, it is not likely that this could be implemented in the next 12 months. Correspondingly this requirement is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.
