Ability to use any kind of data format, not only JSON

Currently in our industry; we and our clients adapt slow and when format is chosen it stays around, sometimes a bit too long. To address this we have a lot of different type of deliveries to external and internal clients. Some examples includes JSON, XML, CLOB, PDS and plain text.

As we want to utilize zCEE as much as possible and use it as the base functionality when it comes to APIs it would greatly add to the product if we could choose more freely when it comes to transporting data. Of course we still want JSON to be the default way of sending data with zCEE.

To speed up the delivery of this functionality it doesn't have to have any validation of the data included. So if we need to send XML, zCEE does not have to parse or validate the message. It would be the creator's responsibility to send correct data.

It would be another great add-on if the response data could be switched as well between JSON or "free format data".

I am aware of the related RFE: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=88707 but consider this a different kind of RFE as this RFE is not about support for XML but for any kind of data.

Whilst this requirement is valid, based on our current plans and priorities for IBM z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition, it is not likely that this could be implemented in the next 12 months. Correspondingly this requirement is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.
