zCEE Native APIC support

Support for retrieving JWT from IBM API Connect:

Our API requester endpoints are secured with JWTs. Our organization uses an authorization server fronted by IBM API Connect to obtain JWTs and this is not supported by z/OS Connect.

Specifically, the request to obtain the JWT requires the client ID and client secret to be passed in the X-IBM-Client-Id and X-IBM-Client-Secret with the audience in an aud-claim header. The JWT is returned with a content type of application/jwt.


Business Justification

Most of our applications use JWT for authentication and any application that requires retrieval of the JWT through z/OS connect will fail as zCEE does not support content type application/jwt .

    This requirement is addressed by z/OS Connect V3.0.70 / APAR PH54460, where z/OS Connect API requester JWT support has been enhanced:

For z/OS Connect to make ESTS(Authorization server) API call (Native JWT support) – ESTS expects ClientID/Secret/AudClaims fields in the Request Header. However, z/OS Connect does not support this specification.
