IZPCA / COGNOS NEW COST REPORTS TFP WITH MONETARY VALUES BASED IN MSU

Many customers wants to know how much money they are paying by LPAR, WORKLOAD and SERVICE/REPORT CLASS using TFP – Tailored Fit Pricing model.

Nowadays, IZPCA/COGNOS has cost RESOURCE ACCOUNTING reports based in monetary values (cost of CPU seconds, Pages printed, DASD MB etc) and after fill up a lot of Lookup Tables.
It is not easy to know those monetary values and keep updated those Lookup Tables.

Therefore, customers are asking for new cost reports multipling MSU x the unit cost $, based in values they are paying using TFP (Tailored Fit Pricing) contract related to tiers: MSU Baseline and MSU Growth.

So, a new one Lookup Table could be created, where customer could fill up, costs of MSU, similar as this example:

CONTAINER_NAME

MSU_TIER

START_DATE

     MSU_CAPACITY.

PRICE $

         END_DATE

Production

1

2024-01-01

300000

15,2053

           2026-12-31

Production

2

2024-01-01

300001

6,5256

          2026-12-31

·      MSU TIER = 1 (BASELINE) each MSU cost $ 15,2053 until MSU capacity Accumulated value day by day is less than or equal (<=) 300000.

·      MSU TIER = 2 (Growth) each MSU cost $ 6,5256 if MSU capacity Accumulated value day by day is greather than or equal (>=) 300001.

·      ACCUMULATED MSU:

o   DAY1A = DAY1

o   DAY2A = (DAY1A + DAY2)

o   DAY3A = (DAY2A + DAY3)

o   DAY4A = (DAY3A + DAY4)

o   And so on

The report “CP LPAR MSU BY CONTAINER – CPENT44” could be enhanced to create a new report with new 3 columns: “ACCUMULATED MSU”, “$/MSU” and “$ DAY”.

·      ACCUMULATED MSU = sum of MSU since the first day until the next day

·      $/MSU = PRICE $ value of MSU related to the MSU TIER 1 or 2.

·      $ DAY = Money cost of a day = multipling MSU of day by PRICE $.

·      Include the prompts: “Start Date” and “End Date”

* If possible others cost reports could be created related to WORKLOAD and SERVICE/REPORT CLASS multiplying MSU x PRICE $

Please see the attached file spreadsheet example.
