Ability to retain few SGC captures and expire rest

We are currently doing an hourly LCP capture and retaining for 3 days. But recently we had a business requirement to retain for 7 days but one capture in a day is fine along with hourly captures retained for 3 days. This is similar to our full volume backups (of selective application) retention, where we take 7 copies in a week, and a weekly copy with 5 weeks retention and monthly copy with a 3 months retention. We would like to see if such an option can be made available in LCP/SGC by setting a special retention of this sort and this gives flexibility to retain selective captures and expiring the rest.

I think it's more complicated than it sounds, but it's a nice idea

This is a really critical item for us to be more flexible in our retention of a safeguarded copy. It would be good to often hold a later copy.

Useful to provide flexibility on the retention. Expiring the in between copies might not provide a lot of saving on disk space though. (Low priority)

Could be very useful to keep f. eks. a weekly Capture for a month in case there is a data corruption situation that isn't discovered for very long.

It would be nice to have the ability to “save” an LCP copy. Thinking back to when we had a processing disruption long ago, we had to save that system for a few years and ended up backing it up on tape. Hopefully nothing like that happens again, but if it did, it would be nice if we could flag an LCP copy to not roll off. This sounds like more of an automated process to keep a daily but roll off the hourly. Eventually it could be done enhancing LCP to work with multiple profiles, not ready for current GDPS version as we are aware.

Not voted, this can be solved (we think) with multiple LCP profiles under the same consistency group.

i can see this would be helpful. young copies more granular, as they age off drop some of that.
